Troy writes – “I was looking at the Make flickr pool and saw your sweet silk screened moleskin. So after some quick searching, I found these:

Quick ‘n dirty silk screening – Link.
Professional and involved – Link.

Neither seem particularly daunting once you grasp the concept. I just have to start drawing up or looking for some designs…”

Pictured here, the silk screened moleskin Mark Frauenfelder, our (editor in chief) made for us.

I started screening band tshirts over the summer and have had some awesome results. I learned how to use photo emulsion from this tutorial. Check it out.

Those are some extreme examples there with the messy DIY and four-color poster printing. I’d suggest starting off with a regular silk-screen method and using one color. Just pick up a Speedball kit and off you go.

    squareworm,

The link you provided didn’t work, could you tr again? I’d like to see the tutorial.

I am thinking about doing this with my moleskin. Did your editor use the cheap method to do this?

This is fun! I haven’t done silk-screning since the 9th grade (20 years ago! Yikes!) I am going to run out and pick up some equipment to do the quick and dirty method tomorrow.

fecalface.com seems to have redone things since this post; their silk screen how-to is now here: http://www.fecalface.com/SF/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=118&Itemid=52
