Ric writes – “This is the account of how some guy shoehorned an ordinary PCMCIA WiFi card into his iBook by ripping out everything that wasn’t needed. Some good shots too. A bit crazy but apparently these cards can be expensive.”Link.

This is HUGE. Here in the Los Angeles area, you see the OG airport on craigslist with as high as $175 asking price.
I just tried shoving a battered bronze card in my G4-400 tower running 10.2. IT WORKS GREAT!!! Uhm, other than I cant shut the case, but who cares! Thanks!!

This is great! The prizes of the old airport-cards are insane on this side of the ocean too (Europe). I personally refused to pay up somewhere in the region of EUR 100 for such a card. I’ve been using a Belkin F5D7050 happily with my G3-ibook (the green one ;-)) and I had it planned to put it inside my ibook along with my bluetooth-dongle… But this is even better, true airport and the Belkin-stick as backup(also for connecting to 802.11g)… weeee! ;-) Now I have to find such a WaveLan card (I already was looking out for them for my eMate… Now I’m gonna search even harder…)
