How I wish I had one of these... It was often a prize on later episodes of Starcade, "TV's first video arcade game show".

Unfortunately the price on eBay nowadays is always a little too high for my tastes.

OMG! I haven't seen or heard of another one since I got mine about 15 years ago!
Mine languishes in storage somewhere; no, I don't wanna sell it. :P

It's called a Linear Tracking Turntable. Sony had a few as well as Technics. There are some really nice belt drive models that aren't as compact as this one but if you are looking for one like this search for Sony PS-F5 and PS-F9. They come up on Ebay pretty regularly.
