Our pals @ Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories are doing some fun classes at the TechShop (Bay Area) starting this weekend… –
Coming up real soon now: Three microcontroller-oriented classes, on Saturday afternoons at TechShop, at different levels of skill and with different emphases:
- Sat. June 9, 1:00 PM: Make a Micro Readerboard
- Sat. June 16, 1:00 PM: Introduction to AVR Microcontrollers
- Sat. July 7, 1:00 PM: Choosing a Microcontroller
The classes are held at TechShop, a San Francisco Bay Area “open-access public workshop,” located just off of 101 in Menlo Park, where you can go use a wide range of tools to make things, and take all kinds of classes.

Is anyone going to be there with a videocamera? I’m nowhere near the area, but I’d love a copy.
I’m a TechShop member…but I don’t think videotaping these would fly because you have to pay to take these classes and it’s what keeps TechShop operating. You’d need to ask permission from Jim and the teacher of the class. What might work is getting some nice videos made of each class, and selling them on the website for a few bucks similar to Make’s PDF guides.
If you paid me the $30-$36 fee for each class and we got permission to video, sure I’d do it :). I wouldn’t really get anything out of them, though, having already struggled through most of the relevant know-how over the years.
