Maker Faire: Tod Kurt, roomba hacking

Roomba-Cylon-1
Tod Kurt is author of Hacking Roomba and a founder of ThingM, a device studio focused on ubiquitous computing and materials science to create unique objects and experiences for people. At the Maker Faire, Tod will bring along a small Roomba army to demonstrate many of the hacks from his book and a bunch of additional hacks that didn't make it into the book. He's planning to demonstrate: Bluetooth and Wii Remote control, spirograph-like art creation, Roomba caroling, using the Roomba as a MIDI device, and synchronized Roomba dance numbers. Who knows what he'll have come up with by the time the Faire rolls around! You'll also get a chance to play around with the new iRobot Create Robot.

The Maker Faire is May 19 & 20 at the San Mateo Fairgrounds, get your tickets in advance now, avoid the lines and save a few bucks.

Oh, man, this makes me wish I could be there. We've had a Roomba and a Scooba for about a month and I'd love to see Kurt's many hacks in action. It's a long drive from Texas, though.
