• I'm thinking maybe this isn't such a great idea? I mean, it's deliciously simple to make an RFID cloner...neat hack, as long as you make it a two way communication, though

• If you're worried about cloning your RFID key, just remove the original deadbolt's latch, but leave the locking mechanism installed. Replace all the pins with solid ones to immobilize the cylinder and make it pickproof. You give the appearance of a standard deadbolt without any of the functionality. A funny practical joke for the burglar when he tries to pick your lock and gets nowhere!

  And don't forget to conceal your rfid antenna. No need for advertisement.

  When all this fails to deter him, he will smash your window or wedge your door. :)

• Oh, come on. This is no less safe than any other solution. If someone really wants into your house, like, really badly, are they going to go through the trouble of picking your lock in the first place?

  Remember, you don't live in a vault. You have windows, etc., etc. There are plenty of ways to get into a house and I think that the risks of RFID are no higher than any other currently used methods.

  Safety is an illuuuuusion.
