Betz White shows you how to use this cool crafty gadget, the Magicord Knitter (looks like now called Embellish-Knit) which lets you crank the handle and knit a long cord in an instant. Betz then felts the cord to embellish her projects like this felt tea cup pin cushion. Link.

Can anyone tell me if you can feed wires into the middle of this thing to make a “knit” cover for electronic cords? I’m seeing lots of hackerly potential here, but I’m not sure if I understand the concept right. Are these cords hollow?
You can do this without a machine if you have a few nails and a piece of wood.
Here’s some instructions.
If you want to use wires, the manufacturer makes this one: http://www.bond-america.com/products/wyrknittr.html ($14.95). You can definitely make your own corder as jmassaglia posted. This one is just a faster option because you have a hand crank.
