This a bit pricey, but what a great desk that converts to a bed! Doesn’t look to difficult to do a DIY version, quick Makers, to the Sketchup! – [via] Link.

Man I could use something like that!

Although, it was convenient of them to omit any cables from the photos. I’m having trouble seeing how cable runs would work with that. Run ’em out the back, they get pinched when the desk is up, run ’em out the bottom, same problem when the desk is down.

I guess you could leave a small gap on the edge of the table part so that they have space when up and down.

Or have them tunnel through the bed’s board so that they don’t get pinched.

If you look closely at the animation you will see between the pivot (circular plate with 3 screws in it) and the arm there is a triangular area, that there is room for a hole or plastic bung to run cables through. Its easier to see when it is in the bed mode.

This is a neat idea, but the problem that needs to be solved is not bed storage–it’s the bed!

I think the biggest worry is that the desk will NEVER be moved to bed-mode.

“I can’t go to bed, I’d have to stop playing WoW!” (SMILE)

Also makes it really difficult if a friends needs to use your computer and you want to crash.

about the cable thing, all you have to do is drill a hole, like you do in most enterament centers, many desks and must about anthing that need to run cables, in the back borad or the counter of the desk portion.

wow, i can’t wait for someone to plan this all out!

it looks like the pivot it just two non-moving pieces of metal, they’re just there to guide the wood into place…

I see this only useful for a spare bedroom/home office.
Handy when you need a spare bed. Would you really want to risk opening and closing it every night?
Kind of cool but I don’t think it is as useful as you might think.
