Looks like a fun new kind of stitch event for crafty folks who love baseball. The SF Giants is hosting their first annual “Stitch n’ Pitch” on July 20th at AT&T park. (Giants vs. San Diego Padres) From the site, “Bring your projects to the game and meet other knitters all while enjoying Giants baseball. THIS IS A BAD IDEA UNLESS YOU HATE YOUR CAT (even then it is a horrible idea)
here is the break down of just what you are exposing the cat to. (thank you to national geographic January, 2008):
plastic casing: pvc (containing “highly toxic dioxins”), brominated flame retardants.
the monitor circuit boards: lead(“a neurotoxin”), mercury, and flame retardants
i recommend NOT doing this. especially if you don’t know what kind of monitor you have. CRT, cathode-ray tubes, “in computer monitors and TVs hold up to eight pounds of lead”-National Geographic. recycling is good, just not like this. go to recyclers.
