Just had a freaky idea. "Digitize" records by making high-res photo-mosaics and reading the audio out of the imaged grooves.

Anyone tried this?

Somebody tried this a while back... The Digital Needle but I wasn't ever able to get it to work. Seems possible from the page though. I'd like to see it come to fruition myself.
