    The guy should have tried to work out a deal with the church. Maybe he could set up a hotspot at the church that they could share.

    This reads a lot to me like “don’t even try this unless your dad has some connections.” Seriously though, i bet a lot of people can’t do this due to local zoning.

    Why not view it as an example of what could be done, and food for thought rather than dissing it because of dad’s connections? Ya gotta figure it out, on your own if, you need something similar. True it wouldn’t be an option for those facing zoning restictions, CCRs and people who don’t like towers interrupting their view. I would have first tried to get the isp to install a hotspot to serve those in the church’s shadow, perhap’s they did and the isp was unresponsive.
