Instant Labeling Tape

Tape Large Very clever…simple, customisable, do-it-yourself signage system. By “blacking out” elements of a 14-segment display font on the tape, all you need is a black permanent pen to create your own temporary signs, labels and installations. Think moving house and labelling boxes, putting up official-looking signs or teaching your kids how to make letters. [via] Link.

That only really applies if you have firmware 1.50 now. If your system came with 1.51 or 1.52 (or you previously upgraded to either) there is currently no homebrew available, so go ahead and upgrade.

nothing is “yawn” about 2.0! my advice after playing with it for about a week: UPGRADE LIKE THE WIND!! the browser is awesome and the extended image viewing capabilities are reason alone! personally the ‘homebrew’ apps i’ve seen are all a bunch of poop anyway.

Yeah, I guess oldsmobuick is right.
Why in the world would I want a web browser, an SNES, an NES, a Lynx, a Gameboy Color, a Gameboy Advance, a Neo Geo CD, a Turbo Grafx 16, a Genesis, a Master System, a Game Gear, a Neo Geo Pocket, and Amiga, a Chip8 system, an MSX, MAME, a Wonderswan, a VMU, Nethack, Angband, ToME, an eBook reader, a calculator, a scheduler, a calendar, Scumm games, a Sudoku game, a portable VNC client, an X86 emulator, irda transfer programs, remote controls, vCard reader, FTP server, avi player, advanced music player, drum kits, file browsers, an easy to learn coding environment, graphic changing program, a fullscreen movie player, a scrabble assistant, a notepad, a dictionary, and all that other garbage.
    I’m totally upgrading.

for a second, i thought DDRLord was being sarcastic until i kept reading down the list of ridiculous use-once-and-never-again homebrew like a scrabble assistant (?!). then i realized he was on my page. hope you like 2.0 DDRLord! Just think of all that free space you’ll have on your memory stick after trashing all those stupid apps!

  5. DDRLord says:

    It’s 50/50, oldsmobuick.
I personally don’t need the scrabble assistant, but you can’t possibly say that a portable SNES is “a bunch of poop”.

Some of the games out here in the UK refuse to load unless 2.0 is loaded. I’ve upgraded and now have a functioning web browser that I can use to hook into the home server and control the house. Works on wardriving too, shame I really fancied running dos 1.0 ;)
