Installs fine, but wont actually let me boot to linux, just keeps booting to the apple version, even after i took the time to read the instructions

i tried anonther 4g installer for windows. it installed fine but unfortunately i could not boot apple anymore. more worse i could not switch off the ipod. in the end i had to deinstall linux.
