ODEO - Mini-review and Screenshots
![]()
ODEO, the podcast service is launching as we speak, I've been using it for a couple weeks and really like it. Thank you to everyone subscribing to MAKE audio in ODEO too! I'm working up a review and I'm also trying to do some weird things with it, and that'll be up later- but for now, I have the goods a lot of your are looking for- tons of screenshots, so here you go...
I'm really impressed with the ease of use, download tools, recording (great use of Flash com server, finally!) cross platform and niceties of ODEO- I think this is going to get a lot of people publishing and downloading podcasts. ODEO + iTunes 4.9 + iPodder 2.1 + iPodderX + AudioBlog + LibSyn + everything else that's going on right now, we're finally going to fill our 40GB portable audio players, and will all be recording a lot of important things to share.

Well, I got my invite and signed up straight away. As a podcasting agregator it is pretty cool. It looks nice and is really useable on the web. The sync client however needs a lot of work. It looks kinda crap and doesn't allow you to do much with the downloaded tracks (like change the Genre of all tracks to 'podcast').
A good start and I hope it gets better. I'm ditching iPodder and using this.
Well, I am in Odeo too but I don't have access to their recording thingy, but what from what I see above it is extremely primitive. I wonder what are conditions of recording: is it free ? is Odeo paying for hosting? what is maximum length/size of podcast created through Odeo Studio? what are limitations of this recording?
It looks like Curry's CastBlaster will be much better... (although I personally will stick to Adobe Audition).
One thing I really like abot Doppler is that it syncs with Bloglines so it make it easy to find a feed surfing anywhere and add it to my podcatching client. This doesn't do that and it sould would be nice.
I gave it a quick look. Found it a little hard to find a show. In some ways that may be by design so new content finds its way out to others. Still, an alphabetical listing would be cool.
Also, couldn't figure out if OPML imports are possible. Anyone know? That is huge if you already have lots of feeds in your current podcatcher.
