Soldering guides sure have pretty equipment. My soldering iron looks like I leave it hot for days at a time and clean it with a grinding wheel. Because I do. I have never liked those fancy coated tips, give me a bit of bare copper over those any day. (sorry - I misposted)
just wanted to say that your solder tips in the first mag are really really good !
Nobody has ever explained it to me, how to solder, so I just messed about a bit. I do have another tip, for holding your little wires-> in Britain they call it Blu tack, in Belgium we call it Pritt Buddies (re-usable adhesive).
It's the chewing gum like substance which is supposed to help you hang up your posters (but it doesn't work well with posters) Because you have only 2 hands, the Blu tack or other guey plasticine like substance holds your two wires together... better than anything I have EVER tried (this was a tip by DIY circuitbending artist Sarah Washington)...
Also, one little remark - I cannot help it - please take into account that radio shack code number such and such has no use whatsoever for a Belgian girl like me (we have no radio shack..)... I do like mag number one!! hoorayPosted by wy__ on April 04, 2005 at 05:52:28 Pacific Time

That article is nice for clean room enviroments with brand new components. However in My World the copper on the boards oxidizes as does the tin on the components. I have found that using an eraser on the copper and scraping the component leads works much better with real devices that aren't factory fresh.Posted by georgemallard on March 11, 2005 at 07:16:43 Pacific Time
